Dr Sally Gibson will give an illustrated talk about her most recent book, Inside Toronto: Urban Interiors 1880s – 1920s. Based on 260 archival images and extensive original research, Inside Toronto is the first book published anywhere to investigate the complex, interior life of a single city – the ordinary and extraordinary places where Torontonians of all sorts lived, worked, shopped and performed the rituals of daily life. Dr Gibson’s book was short-listed for the 2007 City of Toronto Book award and won the 2007 Heritage Toronto Award of Excellence for books. After ten years as a professional archivist, Dr Gibson is now Manager of Heritage Services for the Distillery Historic District.
