From Issue No. 132 | December 01, 2008

NOXON is a celebration of Canadian architect and industrial designer Court Noxon and the immense catalogue of work he produced for his company Metalsmiths from 1954 to 1982. Imagine a world where farming and design come together in a most beautiful fashion.

This is the story of the Noxon family in Canada; from agricultural implements, to decorative architectural ironwork, to sleek stainless steel furniture. The Noxon name has become synonymous with sophisticated modern furniture and the growth of industrial design in Canada. Metalsmiths is very much the personification of this maverick.

Noxon not only worked among the best of his generation, people like Jan Kuypers and Leif Jacobsen, he made components for major furniture houses including Knoll and Laverne, while selling furniture of his own design across the country and abroad.

NOXON is organized by Dominion Modern and the School of Design. For more information, please visit www.dominionmodern.ca.

Weekdays: 1:00PM-7:00PM
Saturdays: 1:00PM-5:00PM
Sunday: Closed

Editors Notes: DON"T MISS THIS, it is a small but lovely exhibit, and the book should be on anyone's shelf who loves good furniture, also family stories. And how cool is it to have a name NOXON that can be read from to back, and upside down too!
