Set at Fort York and using four of Toronto's oldest buildings as its stage, The Fort at York is the latest play from Crate Productions; Toronto's Dora Award-nominated theatre company. Created by Crate's artistic director and co-founder, Chris Reynolds, the play transports its audience back to the fort on the eve of the Battle of York in April, 1813, to recount stories that might have been told then as people waited for the Americans to attack the next day.

Only 60 tickets are available for each performance, allowing the audience who arrive after nightfall to be divided into four smaller groups of 15 people each. Led off through the darkness by a guide, they witness successive performances in the gunpowder magazine, a barracks, a kitchen and alongside a firepit. Then, for the final dramatic scene, all the groups convene in a blockhouse.

Editors Notes: Don't Miss this production. It is an absolutely poetic way to experience Fort York and reach through time to the people who fought there for a future city they couldn't begin to imagine.
