The Tower of Babel and Other Follies

Exhibition

Place:
Urbanscape Architectural Gallery 2959 Dundas Street West in Toronto.
Date:
June 3-20 2009

From Issue No. 144 | June 16, 2009

Over the past 20 years, Ian McKay has been working with architectural images.

This exhibition incorporates works from an ongoing series based on the Tower of Babel, along with works concerning works 9/11 and its aftermath. At the onset of these paintings, McKay had just been diagnosed with macular degeneration, and these images are simultaneously about the destruction of war and the degradation of McKay’s vision.
