This year's NE Heritage Forum aims to bridge local community interest and the larger issues at stake. The Forum title reflects our unifying theme, to promote involvement and action at all levels. Finding ways to promote and protect Canadian heritage must be a shared responsibility. No one community or level of government can succeed alone. The unique setting of the NE Heritage Forum has enabled us to bring together a diverse group of organizations. Participants are drawn from Ottawa City Archives, the local historical society, Carleton University, the provincial Ministry of Culture, National Capital Commission, Parks Canda, and the Heritage Canada Foundation.

After a brief introduction to the historic community of New Edinburgh, founded 175 years ago, the panel discussion will focus on challenges now facing Heritage Conservation Districts in Canada and possible strategies for collaborative action to protect them.
