From Issue No. 149 | October 15, 2009

This workshop will provide an overview to the maintenance and repair of historic wooden and metal windows, including inspection, diagnosis and conservation; performance and life cycle costing; security and protection. Day two will feature a variety of hands-on demonstrations of tools and techniques for the repair and maintenance of historic windows.

Objectives

" Each participant will leave with a good understanding of acceptable policy and technical practices related to the repair and maintenance of historic buildings and structures with particular emphasis on historic windows.
" Each participant will be able to recognise heritage values in windows through a review of the history of materials, technologies and design.
" Each participant will receive a good introduction to sources of information for general and specific advice on technical aspects of heritage building conservation with an emphasis on windows conservation.
