Mayor David Miller will officially open the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre and Roundhouse Park on Friday May 28 at 10 a.m.

Those who helped create this unique heritage attraction will also be present: Glenn Garwood, City of Toronto; Orin Krivel, President, Toronto Railway Historical Association (TRHA); Derek Boles, Historian, TRHA; Don Loucks, Heritage Architect, IBI Group. Many of THRA’s volunteers will also attend.

The Toronto Railway Heritage Centre and Roundhouse Park is adjacent to the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre.

This exciting new site development will launch free to the public at Doors Open Toronto on May 29 and 30 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day). Site highlights include a number of heritage locomotives alongside a functioning interlocking tower, conductor simulators, the fully restored historic Don Station and a miniature railway traversing the park. Photo Opportunity: The Toronto Railway Heritage Centre miniature steam train will receive its official orders to begin service and the train will be ridden by members of the official party.

Media tours: Volunteers from the Toronto Railway Historical Association will offer tours of the restored rail heritage buildings and the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre’s Roundhouse location in Bays 15, 16 and 17.
