From Issue No. 166 | September 26, 2010

Please join us for this year's event which will be held in a new venue, the stunning Koerner Hall at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

We are pleased to have CBC Radio's Mary Ito join us again as our host for this year's awards.

The Heritage Toronto Awards celebrate outstanding contributions by individuals and community organizations, as well as industry professionals and associations, in promoting and conserving Toronto's history and heritage landmarks.

Awards will be presented in architecture, book, media and community heritage categories.

This year's Special Achievement Award will also be presented to long-time heritage advocate Madeleine McDowell.

The William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture is held in conjunction with the Awards presentation. The lecture was introduced in 1996 to honour William Kilbourn's legacy and his commitment to Toronto as a viable, liveable city that honours its past and plans for its future. Past speakers include David Crombie, Adrienne Clarkson, Bruce Kuwabara and David Mirvish - inspiring Torontonians in their own right.

We are pleased to announce that our speaker for this year's Lecture is Peter Oundjian, Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) Music Director.

"Notes" on Toronto: With its vibrant cultural institutions that inspire our city's audiences and nurture young artists, the sounds of Toronto reverberate around the world. This year's distinguished Kilbourn speaker, Toronto Symphony Orchestra Music Director Peter Oundjian, looks at music's role in creating our city's soundscape.
