The Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria is offering two engaging courses in the spring of 2011 that are of interest to planners and other specialists involved in heritage preservation and downtown revitalization activities. An exploration of various methods used to determine the range of historical, aesthetic, social, and scientific values that establish the character-defining elements of historic resources, along with their roles in guiding subsequent conservation planning and decision-making.
Heritage Conservation Planning
March 21- 26, 2011, on-campus in an intensive format, with Dr. Harold Kalman

This course focuses on approaches to heritage conservation revitalization and decision-making, and discusses the components of planning processes that include community involvement and consultation, the acquisition and integration of technical information and professional expertise, and the integration of conservation planning in the long-term management of heritage resources.
The Cultural Resource Management Program is an Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) registered provider offering an AIBC-accredited activity for continuing education learning units. AIBC members can earn 36 non-core learning credits per course. Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) members may also earn 36 learning units of organized Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity for participating in courses.
