From Issue No. 189 | January 12, 2012

Taking place on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, the Toronto Society of Architects' next meeting will be their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and an Urban Affairs Forum to discuss the City of Toronto Official Plan Review.

At the AGM they will: provide a summary of 2011 activities; approve the 2011 AGM minutes; present the 2011/2012 budget; and form the 2012 Executive.

Anyone wishing to learn more about the TSA, join the Executive, and/or volunteer should make sure to attend the meeting.

The City of Toronto Official Plan, which sets out the vision for where and how Toronto will grow to the year 2031, is going through a formal review process - the first since coming into force in 2006. The TSA is hosting a forum to discuss possible changes to the Official Plan and would like to hear your suggestions about what you think is working in the OP and what you think should be improved. Issues such as growth targets and how and where growth is being directed, transportation, the approach to employment lands, heritage, the environment and urban agriculture are just some of the topics that have been raised thus far.

Paul Bain, Project Manager, Official Plan Review, City of Toronto - who is responsible for coordinating the OP Review within the Planning Department, will provide a brief presentation on the state of the City in relation to the Official Plan, after which those in attendance will have an opportunity to raise questions, make suggestions and provide comments. The meeting will be moderated by Joe Lobko, Partner in DTAH.

The AGM runs from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by the Official Plan Review Forum from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The venue, as always, is the Great Hall in the Arts & Letters Club, located at 14 Elm Street in Toronto.
