The Town of Aurora and its Heritage Advisory Committee held a Heritage Celebration Ceremony on February 23rd, 2012 during Heritage Week. This is the first year that a full Ceremony was dedicated to celebrating Auroras heritage and those individuals who play a significant role in preserving and promoting it. The Ceremony recognized
" Auroras winner of the Lieutenant Governor's Award, Mr. Harry Lumsden
" Winners of the Ontario Heritage Trust Community Recognition Program: Mr. & Mr. Patterson for the Lifetime Achievement Award (20-24 years); Mr. McRoberts for the Cultural Heritage Category; and Mr. Ameryoun for the Built Heritage Category.
" Doors Open Aurora volunteers and Site owners and /or operators
" Winners of the Aurora Heritage Advisory Committee Awards of Excellence: Mr. Dias, and Mr. Ameryoun in the Restoration Category; Mr. Picheca in the Infill Category; and late Mr. Godschalk in the Outstanding Achievement Category.
" Designation plaque ceremony recognized 19 designated heritage properties under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
