Riverdale Historical Society's November speaker is Dara Solomon, Director of the Ontario Jewish Archives, who will present a talk on the Pape Avenue Cemetery, the oldest Jewish cemetery in Toronto. Established in 1849, this cemetery has the tombs of some of the city's earliest Jewish residents who had mostly immigrated from England or Germany. By examining their individual lives, both the hardships and the triumphs of this formative period are revealed.
