To celebrate Heritage Week, the Ontario Heritage Trust is hosting a special kickoff event on February 17th at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens (now the Mattamy Athletic Centre), in Toronto. The theme for this years launch is Play. Endure. Inspire. Ontarios sport heritage. This event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate Ontarios sport heritage at a National Historic Site, while building excitement for the upcoming Pan and Parapan American Games.

The Ontario Heritage Trust has partnered with TO2015 and KidSport to deliver a program that merges Ontarios sport past and future with a variety of activities that are sure to thrill participants. Those who attend will have an opportunity to hear from and interact with currently competing and retired athletes such as Perdita Felician (Olympic hurdler), Tyler Miller (Paralympics wheelchair basketball champion), and event emcees Anne-Marie Mediwake and Dwight Drummond (CBC anchors).

Participants will also have the chance to learn about Ontarios sport organizations at a dynamic heritage expo featuring exhibits from groups such as the Hockey Hall of Fame, enjoy a reception with refreshments, and take tours of this landmark arena.

This is an inclusive event, with participants and organizations that represent the diversity of Ontarios population, that promises to be an experience not to be missed.
